The Gucci Flora pattern was created in 1966 by Vittorio Accornero, an Italian artist who was commissioned by Rodolfo Gucci, grandson of the founder of the luxury fashion brand. The design was originally intended for a silk scarf that would be given as a gift to Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco. Accornero was a textile designer for House of Gucci and he came back with a floral patter on a white background which included 37 colors and a wide array of flora and fauna, including daffodils, poppies, butterflies and beetles.
The exhibition "Silk Gardens - Vittorio Accornero for Gucci" is a project of the Agave publishing house in Sassari and avails itself of the collaboration of the Gucci Museum in Florence. Already held in Sassari and Alessandria, the exhibition represented Italy at the Beijing Book Fair in 2012.
